Handle Job Rejection Like A Pro

The feeling of rejection after a job interview can really affect your confidence. In fact, regardless of what stage you

Don’t get fixated on the one Role

When you’ve got your heart set on a particular position and you are unsuccessful, it can be extremely disappointing. Hence, it is important not to put all your eggs in one basket. If you let your Amicus recruitment consultant know you are open to multiple opportunities, then you can’t become overly fixated on the one role as we will put you forward to as many as we think you are suited to.

It’s not about you Personally

Whilst it can be hard to do so, don’t let a job rejection affect you personally. The firm has made the decision based on who they believe will be best suited to the position, it is a business decision, so don’t take it personally! Your lack of success in one role does not mean you are un-hireable. You can allow yourself to feel sad, but it is important to pick yourself up, move on and focus on your next application.

Use it as an Opportunity to Reflect and Improve

When possible, your Amicus recruitment consultant will endeavour to provide you with as much detailed feedback as possible. In doing so, we can hopefully assist you in understanding the reasons as to why you were unsuccessful. Reflect on the feedback and use it to your advantage. If the feedback relates to your interview style, then use this feedback to practice and build on your style so that next time you interview, you can improve on the areas you had previously lacked in. There is always room for improvement, regardless of your level of expertise!

Most Importantly – Stay Positive!

Searching for a new job can be a draining process, so a positive mindset can go a long way! Remind yourself that you have worked hard to be where you are, you have a solid skillset and the right role will come around in due course.
